Man Assaults Victim With Hammer In Domestic Dispute, Police Say

A 34-year-old man was arrested after assaulting another person with a hammer during a domestic dispute, according to the New York State Police.

James M. Macisaac of Pine Plains was arrested Sunday for the attack with took place on Friday, July 13, in Pine Plains, said Trooper AJ Hicks.

Troopers were alerted to the attack when nurses at Northern Dutchess Hospital reported a possible victim of domestic violence, Hicks said.

An investigation found the victim was assaulted by Macisaac with a hammer, he said.

Macisaac was then located at his residence on Church Street and arrested and charged with felony assault. 

Macisaac was arraigned before the town of Hyde Park Court, and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. 

He is scheduled to appear before the town of Pine Plains Court on Thursday, July 19.
